Question 193177: This is not in our textbook but an extra credit question on homework. Can someone help please?
What is the area and circumference of a circle with diameter 22 mm? (The instructor wants the exact solutions & wants us to include correct units with each!)This hurts!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
C=%28pi%29d where d = diameter
:
A=%28pi%29r%5E2 where r is the radius
:
C=%28pi%29%2822%29=22%28pi%29mm
:
A=%28pi%2911%5E2=121%28pi%29%28mm%29%5E2%29

What is the area and circumference of a circle with diameter 22 mm? (The instructor wants the exact solutions & wants us to include correct units with each!)This hurts!
------------------
The radius is half of 22 mm,
r = 11 mm
Circumference = pi*d = 22*pi mms (the exact answer)
22*pi = ~ 69.115 mms (approximately)
---------------
The area
A = pi*r^2
A = 121*pi square mms (exactly)
121*pi = ~ 380.133 mm^2 (apx)
No reason to panic.
