Let the measure of the vertex angle be x, then each of the base angles would be 2x.
The sum of the three angles in any triangle is 180 degrees, so we can add the three angles in the isosceles triangle:
x + 2x + 2x = 180 Simplify.
5x = 180
x = 36 This is the measure of the vertex angle.
2x = 72 This is the measure of each base angle.
