: Please help me with this.
The directions say to Find is foci.
Today in class we learned that the foci meant the same term as focus.
I have been struggling with this problem.
This what I have tried so far.
I tried dividing everything by one therefore I would get
a=9
b=1
c=
However it just isn't working out so I do not know if I have making a small mistake. This question is from textbook
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x^2+9y^2=1
---
(x^2/1) + (y^2/(1/9) = 1
---
The center is at (0,0)
a = 1 ; b = 1/3
---
a^2 = b^2+c^2
---
1 = (1/9) + c^2
c = sqrt(8/9) = (2/3)sqrt(2)
--------------------
foci: ((2/3)sqrt(2),0) , ((-2/3)sqrt(2) , 0)
