Question 19078: y=-8x+1
Answer by MelanieBCC(40) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! if you're asking how this would be graphed, refer to slope-intercept formula:
where m is the slope, b is the y-intercept and the x and y are coordinates for any point on the graph.
Since the equation you give is already in slope-intercept form, you have all of the information you need to plot the graph
In your equation, is b which means the graph intersects the y-axis (this is the y-intercept) at 1, ie. coordinants (0,1)
In your equation, the slope is or
Using rise over run, you can plot from the y-intercept. Because the slope is negative, you know it will slope down from left to right. The next point would be (1,-7) because you would go down 8 (along the y axis) and over 1 from the y-intercept.
Good luck!
