Question 190439: I am not sure if I fully understand how to solve variations.
Here is a problem that I did could you please tell me if it is right and if it is wrong what I did wrong
M varies inversely as P. When M is 4, P is 10
Find the constant of proportionality for this variation.
M=k/p
4=k/40
k=40
THen it states to find P when M is 12
12=40/p
p=3.333
but that is not the answer in the book so I am sure that I did that part wrong but am unsure of how it needs to be done
Any help would be greatly appreciated Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
You did the problem correctly. The only thing I can think of is that maybe your book says the answer is , since that is the exact answer and your 3.333 is only an approximation.
