You can put this solution on YOUR website!
four numbers have a total of 92. The first number is twice the second number and the third number is 4 times more than the sum of the first two. The fourth number is 3 less than the difference of the first two numbers. What is the difference?

DONT WORRY...IT REQUIRES A LITTLE UNDERSTANDING.ONCE YOU GET THAT SEE HOW YOUR TEARS OF SORROW WILL TURN INTO TEARS OF JOY.
i can make one suggestion.in word problems take one
unknown call it x.mentally you consider it as some
number known to you say 2 or 3 or any thing if that
helps your thinking.now continue with the problem as
if this x is some thing you know as some 2 or 3 ..and
proceed to arrive at an expression of all the facts
and finally an equation.then solve that equation for
x.only when it is a must assume a second unknown (if
there is any) as y ...but generally go with one
unknown x only unless it is not possible to
proceed.the lesser the unknowns the better it is..is
it not ..it is like normal life situation...all the
best in your studies.feel free to contact me when
needed
TAKE ANY CONVENIENT NUMBER AS x AND START YOUR JOURNEY.HERE SECOND NUMBER APPEARS TO BE A CONVENIENT CHOICE.SO...
let 2nd.number.=x
twice the 2nd. number=2x
so first number =2x
sum of the first 2 numbers =x+2x=3x
4 times the above sum =4*3x=12x
so 3rd.number is =12x
difference of the 1st.and 2nd. numbers =2x-x=x
3 less than this difference =x-3
so 4th.number is =x-3
total of all numbers =2x+x+12x+x-3=16x-3..but some is 92..so
16x-3=92..or...16x=92+3=95...or...x=95/16
now we are asked the difference of 1st.and 2nd.numbers which is 2x-x=x so the answer is x=95/16
