Question 189175: I wrote prior that I can solve this but somehow it gets too much and confused and I am sure I made a mistake somewhere. Can you help me solving this?
9/(x+1) - 2/(x-2) = 5/(x+1) and help me to check all proposed solutions?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%29 - 2%2F%28%28x-2%29%29 = 5%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%29
:
Multiply by (x+1)(x-2)*
(x+1)(x-2)*9%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%29 - (x+1)(x-2)*2%2F%28%28x-2%29%29 = (x+1)(x-2)*5%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%29
Cancel out the denominators and you have;
9(x-2) - 2(x+1) = 5(x-2)
:
9x - 18 - 2x - 2 = 5x - 10
:
x's on the left numerals on the right
9x - 2x - 5x = -10 + 2 + 18
:
2x = 10
x = 10%2F2
x = 5

Check solution in original equation
9%2F%28%28x%2B5%29%29 - 2%2F%28%285-2%29%29 = 5%2F%28%285%2B1%29%29
9%2F6 - 2%2F3 = 5%2F6
9%2F6 - 4%2F6 = 5%2F6
