You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A circular swimming pool contains about 300 gallons of water. The water is 2 feet deep. What is the diameter of the pool?
(you may wish to use one of the following: (1 ft^3 = 7.5 gallons or 1 gallon = 231 in^3)
--------------
300 gallons = 40 cubic feet
The water in the pool is in the shape of a cylinder. A cylinder's volume is
V+=+pi%2Ar%5E2%2Ah
40+=+pi%2Ar%5E2%2A2
r%5E2+=+20%2Fpi
r = ~ 2.52 feet
d = 5.04 feet
----------------
I wouldn't call this a swimming pool. For hamsters, maybe, not people.
