SOLUTION: Determine if f(x) is a factor of the polynomial using the factor theorem.
x=3 for f(x) = x^3-4x-1
How do I solve this? If you could please explain :)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Determine if f(x) is a factor of the polynomial using the factor theorem.
x=3 for f(x) = x^3-4x-1
-----------------------------
The Factor Theorem says "If x-3 is a factor of f(x) if f(3)=0
-----------------------------
So see if f(3) is zero.
----
f(3) = 3^3-4*3-1 = 27-12-1 = 14
----------
F(3) is not zero so (x-3) is not a factor of f(x).
