You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Solving for "x"

First, we combine similar terms. Put to the left those with variable (With x), and to the right those constants.

*Remember to change "signs" when you move.

Given: 10x + 9 = 5x +29
10x-5x=29-9
Perform operations indicated:
5x=20
Divide both terms by "5" to isolate x:
cross%285%29x%2Fcross%285%29=cross%2820%294%2Fcross%285%29
x=4, Answer

To check, substitute x to the given eqn:
10%284%29%2B9=5%284%29%2B29
40%2B9=20%2B29
49=49, good

Next, 10x -13 = 7x +2
Combine similar terms:
10x-7x=2%2B13
Perform operations indicated (Add, Substract, etc):
3x=15
Divide 3 both terms to isolate x:
cross%283%29x%2Fcross%283%29=cross%2815%295%2Fcross%283%29
x=5

Check by substituting to the given eqn:
10%285%29-13=7%285%29%2B2
50-13=35%2B2
37=37, good

Thank you,
