On Monday, a local hamburger shop sold a combined total of 448 hamburgers and cheeseburgers. The number of cheeseburgers sold was three times the number of hamburgers sold. How many hamburgers were sold on Monday?
---------------------------
Equations:
Quantity Eq. : h + c = 448
Quantity Eq. : c = 3h
----------------------------
Substitute to solve for "h":
h + 3h = 448
4h = 448
h = 112 (# of hamburgers)
----------
Substitute to solve for "c":
112 + c = 448
c = 336 (# of cheesburgers)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

First Condition of Sales for Monday:
CB=3HB , more cheeseburgers were sold, 3 times that of hamburgers sold.

Second condition:
CB + HB = 448

Substitute 1st condition into 2nd condition:
highlight%283HB%29%2BHB=448
4HB=448 ----> cross%284%29HB%2Fcross%284%29=cross%28448%29112%2Fcross%284%29
highlight%28HB=112pcs%29, number of hamburger sold

Go back 1st condition:
CB=3%2A112=highlight%28336pcs%29, number of cheeseburger sold

Thank you,
Jojo

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
c=3h
c+h=448
3h+h=448
4h=448
h=448/4
h=112 number of hambergers sold.
c=3*112
c=336 number of cheese burgers sold.
Proof
112+336=448
448=448
