You can put this solution on YOUR website! P = 200 = 2(L + w ) Dividing by 2 we have (L + w) = 100 ……. Eqn(1)
Area = Lw = 2491 sq.cms
(L – w)^2 = (L + w)^2 – 4Lw pluging in the values of (L+w) and Lw we get
(L – w)^2 = 100^2 – 4(2491) = 100000 – 9964 = 36
Taking square roots (L – w) = 6 ……………. ... Eqn(2)
We have (L + w) = 100 ……………. Eqn(1)
Adding Eqn(1) and Eqn(2) 2L = 106
Dividing by 2 we get L = 106/2 = 53
Substituting in Eq(1) 53 + w = 100, so w = 100 – 53 = 47
Answer: Length = 53 cms and Width = 47 cms
