Let x = distance from John's house (and distance driven by John)
then
(350-x) = distance driven by Mike

When they meet they will have driven a total of 350 mi:
Their travel times will be the same; write a time equation; Time = dist%2Fspeed
John's travel time = Mike's travel time

Cross multiply:
45x = 50(350-x)
