Subtract 2t from both sides and you get t%5E2-t-6=0. Factor the equation to get %28t-3%29%28t%2B2%29=0. Then you see that t= 3 or t=-2. Substitute the 3 into the original proportion and you get 1%2F3+=+1%2F3. Substitute the -2 into the proportion and you get 2=2.
