: I understand somewhat how to find teh LCD in problems, but the issue I am running into is when the problem is 5/(x-2)+ 6. The answer I got when I worked the problem was not the same as the book. I got 6x+3\x-2, but the back of the book has 6x-7/x-2
any help would be greatly appreciated! This question is from textbook
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I understand somewhat how to find teh LCD in problems, but the issue I am running into is when the problem is 5/(x-2)+ 6. The answer I got when I worked the problem was not the same as the book. I got 6x+3\x-2, but the back of the book has 6x-7/x-2
any help would be greatly appreciated!
-------------------------
5/(x-2) + 6 = 5/(x-2) + 6*(x-2)/x-2) Ok so far?
= 5/(x-2) + (6x-12)/(x-2)
= (5 + 6x-12)/(x-2)
= (6x-7)/(x-2)
-----------
How did you get 6x+3 ?
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Starting with: Multiply the second term (6) by to get both terms over the common denominator of (x-2). Now add the two fractions. Simplify the numerator.
