You can put this solution on YOUR website!
b = # boys, g = # girls

" number Of Boys in a math c\lass is one less than three times the number of girls" ----> b=3g-1

"There are 39 students in the clas " ----> b+g=39

So solve system

to find the answer

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
Let g = number of girls
then
3g-1 = number of boys
.
g + 3g-1 = 39
4g-1 = 39
4g = 40
g = 10 (number of girls)
.
number of boys:
3g-1 = 3(10)-1 = 30-1 = 29 (number of boys)
