: A store is selling compact discs for $10.50 and $8.50. You buy 10 discs and spend a total of $93. How many compact discs did you buy that cost $10.50? How many did you buy that cost $8.50? I was able to get the answer by process of elimination but I need to figure out how to get the answer using linear equations and and inequalities, I need to see the work so that I can learn how to do this. Thank You Very Much. This question is from textbook Algebra 1
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 10.50x+8.50(10-x)=93
10.50x+85-8.5x=93
2x=93-85
2x=8
x=8/2
x=4 of the $10.50 discs were bought.
10-4=6 oc the $ 8.50 discs were bought.
Proof:
10.50*4+8.50*6=93
42+51=93
93=93
