1/6x+y=3 Assuming you mean x/6, and not 1/(6x), -->x + 6y = 18
x + 6y = 18
x - 6y = 12
-------------- Add the 2 eqns
2x = 30
x = 15
------
y = 3 - 15/6
y = 1/2
