In the first place, is not an equation. There isn't an equals sign as far as the eye can see. In the second place, even if there were an equals sign, it wouldn't be linear because one of your variables is raised to the 2nd power. You have a binomial expression in two variables and the two terms have no factors in common, so this can't even be factored or simplified any more than it is. There is nothing that can be done here.
