Complementary angles are two angles whose sum is a right angle; each angle is called the complement of the other. Angles of 42 degrees and 48 degrees are complementary angles no matter where they are, because their sum is 90 degrees.
Supplementary angles are two angles whose sum is a straight angle; each angle is called the supplement of the other. Angles of 52 degrees and 128 degrees are supplementary angles no matter where they are, because their sum is 180 degrees.
