For the first line,
y=x-3
-3 is your y-intercept
1 is your slope
Second line:
y=2x%2B1
1 is your y-intercept
2 is your slope

Then you place those points on a graph
The place where the two lines intercect is your solution

In this case, the intercection point is (-4,-7)
