you can prove it using the theorem that in a triangle angle opposite bigger side is bigger and by taking the following 2 cases..
case1...base is just smaller than one of the equal sides...in this case base angle is bigger than the vertex angle by the above theorem
case 2 now make more..just more than one of the equal sides in this case base angle is smaller than the vertex angle by the above theoremwhich proves the truth
