Question 185393: what will happen to the volume of a cube, if its edges are halved? Found 3 solutions by nerdybill, stanbon, Alan3354:Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! what will happen to the volume of a cube, if its edges are halved?\
.
Let x = length of an edge of the original cube
.
Volume of original cube = x^3
.
if the edge was halved:
length of edge = x/2
.
Volume of halved cube = (x/2)^3 = x^3/2^3 = x^3/8
.
Therefore, the answer is "the volume would be 1/8 th of the original volume".
You can put this solution on YOUR website! what will happen to the volume of a cube, if its edges are halved?
------------------------
Original Volume: V = s^3 where s is the length of one side.
-------------
Modified Volume: V = [(1/2)s]^3 = (1/8)s^3
--------------
The new volume is 1/8 th the original volume.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The volume would be 1/8 the original, or one 8th the original, but not 1/8th.
1/8 is "one eighth", there is no 1/8th.
