Question 185386: What is the domain and range of the following relation and is it a function?
R=(5,-3),(7,-4),(6,-6),(5,9)
Answer by vleith(2983) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! the domain is the set of all unique x values {5, 7, 6}
The range is the set of all unique y values {-3 , -4, -6 , 9}
It is not a function because there are two different 'outputs' when for the x=5 value. A function requires that each x maps to a single y. IN the case of x=5, it maps to both -3 and 9. So it is not a function
