Solved by pluggable solver: Graphing Linear Equations

-1%2Ax%2B10%2Ay=11Start with the given equation

10%2Ay=11%2B1%2Ax Add 1%2Ax to both sides

y=%281%2F10%29%2811%2B1%2Ax%29 Multiply both sides by 1%2F10

y=%281%2F10%29%2811%29-%281%2F10%29%28-1%29x%29 Distribute 1%2F10

y=11%2F10%2B%281%2F10%29x Multiply

y=%281%2F10%29%2Ax%2B11%2F10 Rearrange the terms

y=%281%2F10%29%2Ax%2B11%2F10 Reduce any fractions

So the equation is now in slope-intercept form (y=mx%2Bb) where m=1%2F10 (the slope) and b=11%2F10 (the y-intercept)

So to graph this equation lets plug in some points

Plug in x=-1

y=%281%2F10%29%2A%28-1%29%2B11%2F10

y=-1%2F10%2B11%2F10 Multiply

y=10%2F10 Add

y=1 Reduce

So here's one point (-1,1)

Now lets find another point

Plug in x=9

y=%281%2F10%29%2A%289%29%2B11%2F10

y=9%2F10%2B11%2F10 Multiply

y=20%2F10 Add

y=2 Reduce

So here's another point (9,2). Add this to our graph

Now draw a line through these points

So this is the graph of y=%281%2F10%29%2Ax%2B11%2F10 through the points (-1,1) and (9,2)

So from the graph we can see that the slope is 1%2F10 (which tells us that in order to go from point to point we have to start at one point and go up 1 units and to the right 10 units to get to the next point) the y-intercept is (0,1.1) ,or (0,11%2F10), and the x-intercept is (-11,0) . So all of this information verifies our graph.

We could graph this equation another way. Since b=11%2F10 this tells us that the y-intercept (the point where the graph intersects with the y-axis) is (0,11%2F10).

So we have one point (0,11%2F10)

Now since the slope is 1%2F10, this means that in order to go from point to point we can use the slope to do so. So starting at (0,11%2F10), we can go up 1 units

and to the right 10 units to get to our next point

Now draw a line through those points to graph y=%281%2F10%29%2Ax%2B11%2F10

So this is the graph of y=%281%2F10%29%2Ax%2B11%2F10 through the points (0,1.1) and (10,2.1)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Graph the following linear equation:
-x+10y=11
If x=0, then y=11/10=1.1 So one point on the line is(0,1.1)
If y=0, then x=-11. So another point on the line is (-11,0)
Since this is a straight line, the above two points are all you need to graph it.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-x+%2B+10+y+=+11
In order to see important features, put it
in the slope-intercept form, y+=+mx+%2B+b
m= slope
b = y intercept
-x+%2B+10+y+=+11
Add x to both sides
10y+=+x+%2B+11
Divide both sides by 10
y+=+%281%2F10%29%2Ax+%2B+11%2F10
m+=+1%2F10
b+=+11%2F10
I can find the x-intercept by setting y=0
0+=+%281%2F10%29%2Ax+%2B+11%2F10
-%281%2F10%29%2Ax+=+11%2F10
Multiply both sides by 10
-x+=+11
x+=+-11
That gives me 2 points and the slope
Here's the plot
