The general form of any exponential equation is y=a%2Ab%5Ex. If b%3E1, then as "x" increases, then "y" increases at an exponential rate. If b%3C1, then as "x" increases, then "y" decreases at an exponential rate (ie it exponentially decays).

So in the first equation b=7%3E1, this tells us that the first equation represents exponential growth.


On the other hand, in the second equation, because b=0.5%3C1, this means that the second equation represents exponential decay.
