Question 182875: What is an equation you can use showing the relationship between r and s, when two angles q and r are complimentary , and the angle s is supplementary to q.
Any help would be appreciated.
I know that complementary angles are 90 - x and that supplementary angles are 180-x, but I still can't come up with an equation for the above problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

If q and r are complementary and If q and s are supplementary, then the following relationships hold:

If we subtract 90 from both sides of the second equation:

But since we have the first relationship, we can substitute:

A little distributive property and collection of like terms:

Yielding the desired relationship.
