Question 181676: the cost of placing a classified ad in teh newspapers follow
Daily Gleaner: C=10n + 25
Daily standrad: 15n +10
where C is the total cost and n is the number of days for which the ad is run
a) Find the missing element in the ordered pair (3,__) that satisfies both equations and is in this form (n, C)
b) What number of days give equal costs for running the ad in each newspaper?
c) What is the total cost of running the ad for this number of days in either newspaper?
thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the cost of placing a classified ad in teh newspapers follow
Daily Gleaner: C=10n + 25
Daily standrad: 15n +10
where C is the total cost and n is the number of days for which the ad is run
a) Find the missing element in the ordered pair (3,__) that satisfies both equations and is in this form (n, C)
b) What number of days give equal costs for running the ad in each newspaper?
c) What is the total cost of running the ad for this number of days in either newspaper?
thanks
:
Daily Gleaner: C=10n + 25........eq 1
Daily standrad: 15n +10..........eq 2
:
a) just set the two equations equal to each other
:
10n+25=15n+10
:
5n=15
:
n=3--->now plug this value into either equation to find C
:
15(3)+10=55
:
so answer is (3,55)
:
b) we already have the answer. n=3...... setting equations equal to one another was the solution
:
c)we have partially done this too .......but we will do it for both
:
daily G: 10(3)+25=55 dollars
daily S: 15(3)+10=55
