You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If
slopes are equal -- parallel
slopes are negative reciprocal -- perpendicular
otherwise -- neither
.
Looking at:
y=5x+2
This is in the form of: y = mx + b (slope-intercept form)
where
m is slope
b is y-intercept
.
So, now we know that the slope of
y=5x+2
is 5
.
A line with a slope of 5 is parallel.
A line with a slope of -1/5 will be perpendicular.
.
Evaluating against:
y=5x+9 (same slope, must be parallel)
y=-5y+2 (neither)
y=-5x-4 (neither)
