after that we get confused. Are we on the right track

We start out doing -14/23-2/7=2/7-2/7-1/7x which is -98/161-46/161=-1/7x
-14/23= (2/7)-(1/7x) Is it 1/(7x), or (1/7)x? I'll assume the latter and work it.
-14/23= 2/7 - x/7 Multiply by 7
-98/23 = 2-x
-x = (-98/23) - 2
x = 2 - (98/23)
x = (46/23) - (98/23)
x = -52/23
