| Question 178639: What do you do if an squared root of an number comes out as an dismal and the question says to put it in the simplest form? Do I have to round the whole number or do I have to do the dismal? If I do have to dismal, How many numbers do I put down?
 If you don't get that question, Here's the question I have to do and how far I have gotten:
 Find the missing length. Write your answer in the simplest form.
 A=5
 b=2
 c=?
 5 squared + 2 squared
 25+ 4
 29=c squared
 the root 29 is 5.3851. . .
 How do I put that dismal into the simplest form?

      (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 29=c squared
 the root 29 is 5.3851. . .
 ------------
 the simplest form for "c" is sqrt(29)
 ===========
 But sqrt(29) is an irrational number, so its decimal equivalent
 is an endless list of digits that have no repeating pattern.
 ------
 So, using decimals, you can only approximate sqrt(29)
