The first team travels east at 20 mph and the second travels west at 25 mph, as shown in the illustration. If their radios have a range of 90 miles, how long will it be before they lose radio contract?

The first team travels east at 20 mph and the second travels west at 25 mph, as shown in the illustration. If their radios have a range of 90 miles, how long will it be before they lose radio contract?

Let the time be "x" hrs.
Equation:
distance east + distance west = 90 miles
20x + 25x = 90
45x = 90
x = 2 hrs (after two hrs. they will be 90 miles away from one another)
