Notice how y%5E2=y%2Ay (ie y squared equals y times y)


So to go from the denominator of "y" to the new denominator of y%5E2, you multiply the denominator by "y". Remember, what you do to the denominator must be done to the numerator also (to keep the fractions equivalent). So that means that you multiply the numerator "8" by "y" to get 8y


So 8%2Fy=%288%2Fy%29%28y%2Fy%29=%288%2Ay%29%2F%28y%2Ay%29=%288y%29%2F%28y%5E2%29


which means that 8%2Fy=%288y%29%2F%28y%5E2%29
