You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Carls' Coffee sells coffee in cylindrical cans.
The volume of a can is 24.7275 cubic inches.
The height of the can is 2 inches more than the radius.
Use Rational Root Theorem to find the height and radius of the can.
Use 3.14 for the value of pi.
---------------
Volume = (pi)r^2h
24.7275 = (3.14)*x^2(x+2)
7.871 = x^3 + 2x^2
x^3 + 2x^2 - 7.871 = 0
----
I graphed it;it crosses the x-axis once at x = 1.4996862....
or about x = 1.5. The other two roots are complex.
=========================================================
Radius is 1.5 and height is 3.5
