Okay, who can help me understand word problems? I really need to know how to break down this problem and solve it. Could someone please help understand!
Problem: If 220 out of 500 voters surveyed said that they would vote for the incumbent, then how many voters could the incumbent expect out of the 400,000 voters in the state?

the sample analysis is assumed to hold in the final election ..so the question transforms to if out of 500..............220 vote in favour ...................
.................out of 400000...........x vote in favour.
x=220*400000/500=1760000
