You can put this solution on YOUR website!

lets call the sum of money S
:
(1/5)S+50+(1/5)S+30+(1/5)S+20+100=S
:
(3/5)S+200=S....combined like terms on left side
:
(2/5)S=200.....subtracted (3/5)S from both sides
:
highlight%28S=500%29dollars to begin. (multiplied both sides by 5/2)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = amount you had at the beginning
then, looking at each sentence:
"I spent the 1/5 of the money and 50$."
x - (1/5)x - 50
= (4/5)x - 50
.
"Then I spent the 1/5 of the remaining money and 30$."
[(4/5)x - 50]- (1/5)[(4/5)x - 50] -30
= [(4/5)x - 50]- [(4/25)x - 10] -30
= (4/5)x - 50 - (4/25)x + 10 -30
= (20/25)x - 50 - (4/25)x - 20
= (16/25)x - 70
.
"I spent the 1/5th of the remaining money and 20$."
[(16/25)x - 70] - (1/5)[(16/25)x - 70] - 20
= [(16/25)x - 70] - [(16/125)x - 14] - 20
= (16/25)x - 70 - (16/125)x + 14 - 20
= (80/125)x - 70 - (16/125)x - 6
= (64/125)x - 76
.
And since you had $100 left:
100 = (64/125)x - 76
176 = (64/125)x
22000 = (64)x
$343.75 = x
