lets call D the total distance
:
1+(1/2)D+(1/3)D+1=D...all these interval lengths together make up the distance
:
2+(3/6)D+(2/6)D=D..(made fraction like terms so we could add them
:
2+(5/6)D=D....combined fractional terms
:
(1/6)D=2......subtracted 5/6D from both sides
: km......(multiplied both sides by 6)
