Question 177515: toxic pollutants. the annual cost in dollars for removing p% of the toxic chaemicals from a town"s water supply is given c(p)=500000/100-p a)use the accompanying graph to estimate the cost for removing 90%and 95% of the toxic chemicals. b)use the formula too find c(99.5)and c(99.9). c) what happens to the cost as the percentage of pollutants removed approaches 100%? thanks for all your help i dont know where to begin

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
well since I cant see the accompanying graph, kind of hard to help you with that. Take a look at your graph at 90% and 95% levels and see what the cost is at those levels(these will be approximate values since you are taking them from the graph)
:
b) for this just plug these values into the equation and solve for p
:
c(p)=c(99.5)= 500000/100-99.5=1000000
:
c(p)=c(99.9)= 500000/100-99.9=5000000
:
c)what happens to the cost as the percentage of pollutants removed approaches 100%
:
looks like it begins to skyrocket....as you can see from 99.5 to 99.9 the cost increase by 5 times.
