y = 2x
y = x+1
you want the value for x that satisfied both equations.
since they both equal y, you can set them equal to each other.
you get:
2x = x+1
you subtract x from both sides to get:
2x-x = 1
you factor out the x to get:
x*(2-1) = 1
you simplify to get:
x*1 = 1
which becomes:
x = 1
when x = 1, y = 2x becomes 2
when x = 1, y = x+1 becomes 2
when x = 1, y = 2 in both equations.
