: two different teas are mixed to make a blend that will be sold at a fair. Black tea sells for $2.20 per pound and orange pekoe tea sells for $3.00 per pound. How much of each type of each should be used to obtain 4 lb of a blend selling for $2.50 This question is from textbook intermediate algebra
You can put this solution on YOUR website! two different teas are mixed to make a blend that will be sold at a fair. Black tea sells for $2.20 per pound and orange pekoe tea sells for $3.00 per pound. How much of each type of each should be used to obtain 4 lb of a blend selling for $2.50
-------------------
Equation:
value + value = value
2.2x + 3(4-x) = 2.5*4
Multiply thru by 10 to get:
22x + 30*4 - 30x = 25*4
-8x = -5*4
x = 2.5 lbs (amt. of black tea in the mix)
4-x = 1.5 lbs (amt of pekoe tea in the mix)
