You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2n%5E2+%2B+3n+-+1 does not have integer factors, so the only way to do this that I know is to set it equal to zero and solve the quadratic first.

2n%5E2+%2B+3n+-+1+=+0

n+=+%28-3+%2B-+sqrt%28+9+%2B+8+%29%29%2F%284%29+

n+=+%28-3+%2B-+sqrt%2817%29%29%2F%284%29+

Hence:

--------------------------------------------------

2y%5E2+%2B+10y++=+-12

First, put it in standard form:

2y%5E2+%2B+10y+%2B+12+=+0

Divide by 2:

y%5E2+%2B+5y+%2B+6+=+0

Note that 2+%2A+3+=+6 and 2+%2B+3+=+5, so:

%28y+%2B+2%29%28y+%2B+3%29+=+0

Hence: y+=+-2 or y+=+-3
