Kathy buys a bike for $ 240 after 40% mark down. What was the original price?

I know the Sale price= original price - % * original price

0.6P = 240 THIS IS WHAT I DON'T GET .
P=240/6 = 400

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if you have 1P and your subtracting .4P....you get .6P
:
1.00-.4=.6
:
so
P-.4P=.6P
:
hope that helps

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Kathy buys a bike for $ 240 after 40% mark down. What was the original price?
----------------
After the price was reduce by 40%, it was $240. So, $240 is 60% of the original price (100% - 40%).
$240 = 60% --> $400 = 100%
The original price was $400.
-----------
To check, $400 - 40% = $400 - $160 which is $240.
