You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X+Y=64
X-Y=4 OR X=4+Y
NOW REPLACE X WITH(4+Y) IN THE FIRST EQUATION
(4+Y)+Y=64
4+2Y=64
2Y=64-4
2Y=60
Y=60/2
Y=30 ANS.
X-30=4
X=30=4
X=34 ANS.

ok our two numbers are x and y
:
x+y=64....eq 1
x-y=4.....eq 2
:
rewrite eq 2 to x=4+y and plug that value into eq 1
:
(4+y)+y=64
:
2y=60.....subtracted 4 from both sides and combined like terms
:
highlight%28y=30%29divided by 2 on each side to isolate variable y
:
x=4+yhighlight%28x=4%2B30=34%29
