Two dice are rolled. Find the odds that the score on the dice is either 6 or 12?
6 = (1,5)(2,4)(3,3)(3,3)(4,2)(5,1) = 6/36 = 1/6
12 = (6,6)(6,6) = 2/36 = 1/18

There are 5 ways to make a 6: (1, 5), (2, 4), (3, 3), (4, 2), and (5, 1). There is 1 way to make a 12: (6, 6).
There are a total of 36 different results: 6 ways one die can come up times 6 ways the other die can come up.
Since you want the probability of rolling a 6 OR a 12, then you have a total of 6 different successes (5 ways to make 6 plus 1 way to make 12) out of 36 possible outcomes, so:
