You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Parallel to the graph of: x+%2B+y+=6
Put this equation in slope-intercept form
y+=+-x+%2B+6
The slope is -1 because the general form is
y+=+mx+%2B+b where m= slope
Any line parallel to this line will also have slope = -1
--------------
The new equation must pass through (1,-4)
Since the general form is
y+=+mx+%2B+b and I know m+=+-1, I can write
y+=+-x+%2B+b
The way to find b is to plug in the x and y of (1,-4)
-4+=+-1%2A1+%2B+b
-3+=+b
Now I can write the equation
y+=+-x+-3 answer
