Question 174965: How do I find the slope of the line that has the equation 4x+2y=12? Found 2 solutions by stanbon, ptaylor:Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! find the slope of the line that has the equation 4x+2y=12
2x + y = 6
y = -2x + 6
------------
slope = -2

Cheers,

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 4x+2y=12
First, we need to put this equation into slope-intercept form which is:
y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept(value of y when x=0)
Subtract 4x from each side:
4x-4x+2y=-4x+12 collect like terms:
2y=-4x+12 divide each term by 2
y=-2x+6 so the slope is -2
