2x+1/2y+1=1/3

equation 1 re-arranges to %28x%2B1%29+=+2%28y%2B1%29 and then to %28x%2B1%29+=+%282y%2B2%29 and finally to x-2y+=+1.
equation 2 re-arranges to 3%282x%2B1%29+=+%282y%2B1%29 and then to %286x%2B3%29+=+2y%2B1 and finally to 6x-2y=-2.
We now have a set of simulataneous linear equations...subtract them, to get rid of the -2y term. This gives x=%28-3%29%2F5
Substitute this into one of the 2 equations gives y=%28-4%29%2F5
Now check in the other equation, that these 2 values do indeed equal the right hand side number...they do, but check it yourself.
