| Question 174687: I need to graph this absolute value function: t(x) = 3- the absolute value x.(I don't have the symbol for asb value on my computer) Can you show me how to get the graph points for t(x) or "y"? I know that I have to select random values for "x" like -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, and know the basic rule for solving. But all sample questions that I have seen involve Y = Asb v of x - 3 (or + a number). I really need to figure this out when we are given 3 - asb v "x". Thanks, charlie

You can put this solution on YOUR website! graph this absolute value function: t(x) = 3- the absolute value x --------
 If x = -1, t(-1) = 3 - abs(-1) = 3 -1 = 2
 ----------------
 If x = 0, t(0) = 3-abs(0) = 3
 ----------------
 If x = 1, t(1) = 3 - abs(1) = 2
 ----------------
 You have three points: (-1,2),(0,3),(1,2)
 ---
Plot the three points and draw an upside-down V-shape with (0,3) at the vertex.
