      (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The "Triangle Proportionality Theroem" states: If a line is parallel to one side of a triangle and intersects the other two sides in two distinct points, then it separates these sides into segments of proportional length. AD/DB does not equal AE/CE
 AD = 2
 DB = 3
 AE = 4
 EC = 4
 We now have two fractions:
 2/3 and 4/4
 QUESTION:
 Are these two fractions the same?
 No, right?
 So, the answer to your question is NO: DE is NOT parallel to BC
