Question 173134: Good day! I tried solving this problem. but, honestly, word problems in linear equations in one variable are quite confusing for me. I'm sorry for my weakness. i hope that you can help me.
Problem: a) Given the non-right angles in a right triangle, if twice the first is 16 more than twice the second, find the angles.
thank you very much. God bless you. Found 2 solutions by stanbon, jim_thompson5910:Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! a) Given the non-right angles in a right triangle, if twice the first is 16 more than twice the second, find the angles.
------------------
The two non-right angesare complementary.
If one is x the other must be 90-x.
----------------------------------------
EQUATION:
2(90-x) = 2x+16
180 - 2x = 2x + 16
4x = 164
x = 41 degrees (one of the angles)
90-x= 49 degrees (the other angle)
